Penrith Valley has two major vibrant business districts within seven kilometres of each other, which provide safe and easily accessible centres for business and professional services required by residents as well as industry. Both business districts are supported by active business organisations which represent and promote the needs of their business communities.
Penrith and St Marys both have a mix of commercial and industrial uses but are predominantly retail oriented.
Penrith CBD
The Penrith Central Business District is the commercial and social heart of Penrith Valley. It consists of a variety of businesses, services, financial services, government offices and provides a wide range of shopping choices one expects in a major metropolitan centre. The CBD is surrounded by a number of industrial precincts with a wide range of manufacturing and other value adding operations which service the local, regional, Sydney and export markets.

Shopping Experience
Penrith CBD is a regional shopping centre drawing more than 400,000 people from the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and as far away as Central Western New South Wales. The major shopping centres in the CBD include:

High Street, with its wide range of specialty and discount stores
Mulgoa Road, with its large range of homemaker specialist stores fringing the CBD.

Penrith City Centre Association
The City Centre Association was established in 1998 to improve businesses in the City through advocacy and direct business promotion.
Some of the key achievements of the Association include street number system for all shops and offices, street signage program, employment of a City Centre Co-ordinator and a Promotions Liaison Officer, development of a CBD volunteer force, and production of a bi-monthly newsletter.

Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce
Established in 1927 the Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce is a non profit organisation that is membership funded.
Their members include business leaders from a diverse range of retail, commercial and manufacturing backgrounds. As well as representatives from government, statutory and local organisations.
The Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce offers a number of services to members including networking functions, seminars, newsletters, promotional and lobbying opportunities. Their alliance with the NSW Business Chamber gives members access to experts on current legislation, small business practise and other business related information.

Penrith Valley Economic Development Corporation (PVEDC)
Established and funded by the Council, the PVEDC was incorporated in January 2003.
The board of the Corporation consists of representatives from the City’s key learning and
training institutions, industry bodies and the Council as well as key business people. Its
key objective is to promote and support industry development and enterprise growth
through cooperative action.

St Marys CBD
St Marys is uniquely positioned as a commercial and business district. It is serviced by the M4 motorway, the western railway line and the GreatWestern Highway. The proposed extension to the M2 is just to the north of the town centre.
Sited on StMarys western fringe are the Penrith Campus of the University of Western Sydney and the Institute of TAFE.
The joint Dunheved and North St Marys industrial areas have around 500 businesses dominated by manufacturing, engineering (metal works), timber value adding, and automobile servicing industries. Both areas offer business room to locate and grow. Some of the most significant business operations in St Marys include Plasser Australia, Corinthian Doors, All Metal Products, ASP Plastics and Smorgon Steel Reinforcing.
St Marys Town Centre
The St Marys Town Centre lies in the heart of the retail sector in the eastern part of the City offering significant business, financial and legal services. It is a unique and vibrant community with strong leaders and a well skilled labour force. It provides excellent public transport service.

Since 1998, St Marys has had a full time town centre manager who has been active in promoting the town as an ideal place to live, work and shop. A major street beautification program has created an attractive, tree lined main street and new shopping experience for both residents and visitors.
